The Heart Behind the Vision
A life pursued by grace. A voice entrusted with purpose.
Long before she understood the significance of her calling, Minister Brittney J. McPherson was a little girl searching for God. Born and raised in the Bronx, New York, Brittney possessed an extraordinary curiosity about life from an early age. Although she was not raised in a Christian household, she began wrestling with questions about God's existence and the meaning of life as early as five years old. Beneath those questions was a longing for truth that she could neither explain nor ignore.
At twelve, an invitation from a neighborhood friend led her to a youth gathering at a small church in the basement of a commercial building in New York City. The surroundings were modest, but the experience would leave an impression on her heart that time could not erase. That evening, a young man played his guitar and began speaking about Jesus Christ. For the first time, Brittney heard someone articulate answers to questions she had carried since childhood. She was captivated by the sincerity of his message and the remarkable power of words spoken with conviction. She could not have known then that a single voice, faithfully proclaiming the Gospel, would help shape the course of her own life.
Two years later, at fourteen, Brittney experienced a supernatural encounter with God that forever changed her understanding of his presence. She gave her heart to Jesus Christ, beginning a relationship that would carry her through years of spiritual discovery, difficult lessons, and a journey of surrender she could never have anticipated. Her love for God was sincere, but her journey was far from without struggle. Over the years, Brittney endured profound loss, health challenges, abuse, rejection, and abandonment. She knew what it meant to walk through seasons of obscurity, to face circumstances that seemed impossible to overcome, and to question whether the promises of God could still find fulfillment in a life marked by so much uncertainty.
In 2020, she survived a near-death experience that became a defining chapter in her story. Although her life had been spared, the years that followed brought a deeper reckoning with her faith, her identity, and the calling she had long wrestled to understand. There were seasons when fear overshadowed her confidence and disappointment made hope difficult to hold. Yet even when Brittney struggled to recognize God's hand, the Lord never stopped pursuing her. Through a deeply personal journey of healing, deliverance, and spiritual restoration, she came to understand that the freedom she had sought could not be found in controlling her circumstances or rebuilding her life through her own strength. It could only be found in Jesus Christ.
She learned that God's light shines brightest in the darkness. The very seasons she once believed would destroy her became places where she encountered God's mercy in ways she had never known before. What once seemed beyond repair became a testimony of his restoring grace. Today, Brittney stands as an overcomer, not because the road was easy or because she possessed the strength to navigate it alone, but because the faithfulness of Jesus Christ remained constant when everything else seemed uncertain. Her life bears witness to a truth she now carries with unwavering conviction: no past is beyond the reach of God's mercy, and no season of brokenness has the authority to cancel what he has purposed.
Leadership shaped by purpose
Before answering the call to serve vulnerable youth and families, Brittney spent more than a decade building a career in retail banking leadership. Her professional expertise spans operational excellence, client relations and acquisition, leadership development, and risk management. Throughout her career, she cultivated a leadership philosophy grounded in integrity, accountability, and a commitment to serving people with excellence. Yet there came a season when she sensed the Lord calling her beyond the career she had spent years building.
In obedience to that leading, Brittney made the significant decision to leave the financial services industry and transition into social services, serving vulnerable youth and families within New York State's foster care system. What appeared to be a departure from an established career became another meaningful chapter in her preparation. Through her work, she encountered young people longing for stability, families seeking restoration, and individuals whose stories were far more complex than the circumstances by which they were often defined. These experiences deepened her compassion for those whose voices had gone unheard and strengthened her conviction that every life carries dignity, value, and the possibility of a different future. In ways she had not anticipated, God was enlarging both her capacity to lead and her heart for those she would one day be called to reach.
The vision she could no longer run from
In September 2020, Chosen Voices Rising was founded. The vision was real, and so was the calling. Yet for nearly six years, Brittney wrestled with fully embracing the responsibility of what God had entrusted to her. She listened to the voices around her, questioned whether she was ready, and wondered whether a woman who had endured so much could truly be entrusted with helping others find their way toward restoration. Too often, she allowed fear to speak louder than faith. But the vision never left her, and by the grace and mercy of God, neither did his pursuit.
Over the years, Brittney began encountering women from every walk of life. Some were searching for genuine community and quietly wondering whether transformation was still possible. Others were navigating grief, rejection, and the painful aftermath of broken relationships, carrying dreams they had nearly abandoned. Their stories touched her deeply. Brittney recognized something of her own journey in many of these women. She knew what it meant to feel forgotten, to wrestle with identity, and to long for the assurance that life could hold something beautiful beyond what had been endured. She also knew the extraordinary mercy of a Savior who had reached into her own brokenness and transformed her life.
With every encounter, the burden on her heart grew stronger, until she could no longer ignore what she believed the Lord was making clear: there were women waiting on her yes. Brittney became deeply convicted that God was commissioning her to revive Chosen Voices Rising. The season of delay had come to an end. She could no longer allow the opinions of others to outweigh the voice of God or permit fear to dictate what he had already sanctioned. The vision she had carried for years could no longer remain at a distance. It was time to answer the call, and finally, she said yes.
“Hope ignited a fire that could not be quenched.”
Brittney J. McPherson
A vision beyond one woman
Today, Minister Brittney J. McPherson carries the vision of Chosen Voices Rising with profound gratitude, humility, and a deep sense of responsibility before God. At its heart, Chosen Voices Rising is a Christ-centered community committed to restoring women's God-given identity, empowering them to embrace their purpose, and equipping them to make a lasting impact throughout every sphere of influence.
For Brittney, this vision is deeply personal. She understands that behind every woman is a story deserving of compassion. Some are encountering Jesus Christ for the first time. Others are finding their way back to him, rebuilding after painful seasons, or learning to recognize the gifts and purpose that have been within them all along. Her desire is to cultivate a community where women are seen, valued, and strengthened through authentic sisterhood, intentional mentorship, biblical teaching, and spiritual development.
She believes that a woman's calling is not confined to a pulpit, a profession, or a position. Her influence may be felt in the home she nurtures, the classroom she leads, the community she serves, the policies she helps shape, or the organizations she builds. Brittney's vision extends beyond gatherings or moments of inspiration. It is rooted in the conviction that genuine transformation must become evident in the way a woman lives, leads, serves, and faithfully stewards what God has entrusted to her.
Through every chapter of her own journey, one declaration has remained a reflection of the faith that continues to carry her forward: “Nevertheless, I press.” Echoing the Apostle Paul's words in Philippians 3:14, this declaration is more than a personal affirmation. It is the testimony of a woman who has learned that perseverance is not simply about surviving life's challenges but about continuing to pursue the call of God with unwavering faith in Jesus Christ.
The little girl who once sat in a church basement, captivated by the power of another person's voice, could never have imagined the journey that awaited her. Years later, the woman who once wrestled with her own calling has answered the commission to help other women discover theirs. The significance of Chosen Voices Rising is found in that remarkable journey. It is not the story of a woman who always knew the way, but of a faithful God who continued to lead her even when she could not see the road ahead.
For Minister Brittney J. McPherson, the greatest measure of this vision will never be how many women gather beneath its name, but how many come to know Jesus Christ, discover who they are in him, and find the courage to answer when he calls.
